Statement of Faith
The Bible
We believe the Holy Scriptures, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, are the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. The Bible is the final rule of faith and life.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 119:105)
God
We believe in one true and living God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is the Creator and Sustainer of all things and is worthy of all worship and obedience.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
Jesus Christ
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, substitutionary death on the cross, bodily resurrection from the dead, ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory.
(John 1:1-14; Luke 1:35; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Acts 1:9-11)
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, who convicts the world of sin, regenerates the believer, indwells and empowers for godly living, and bestows spiritual gifts for the building of the Church.
(John 16:8-13; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Galatians 5:22-23)
Salvation
We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. All people are sinners by nature and by choice and are in need of salvation. Only through repentance and the faith in Jesus Christ can one be reconciled to God and receive eternal life.
(Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6; Acts 4:12)
The Church
We believe that the universal Church is composed of all true believers in Jesus Christ. The local church is a community of believers who gather for worship, discipleship, fellowship, and mission. Each believer is called to participate in the life and ministry of the Church.
(Ephesians 1:22-23; Acts 2:42-47; Hebrews 10:24-25)
Ordinances
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ instituted two ordinances for the Church: Water Baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Communion). Water Baptism is a public testimony of faith and the Lord’s Supper (Communion) is a remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice.
(Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:3-4; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)
The Baptism of the Holy Spirit
We believe that all believers should expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father, the baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire, according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. This was a normal experience for the early Church as described in the book of Acts, and with it comes enduement of power for life and service — the bestowment of gifts and their uses in the work of ministry. We believe in the initial physical evidence of the baptism by the Holy Spirit as speaking in other tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance.
(Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31; Acts 2:4)
The Return of Christ
We believe in the personal, visible, and glorious return of Jesus Christ. He will judge the living and the dead, and His Kingdom will have no end.
(1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 22:12; Matthew 25;31-46)
Eternal Destiny
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved to eternal life and the lost to eternal separation from God. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence.
(John 5:28-29; Matthew 25:46; Revelation 20:11-15)
Christian Living
We believe that every believer is called to live a holy and Spirit-empowered life, bearing fruit in character and service, and fulfilling the Great Commission to make disciples of all nations.
(Romans 12:1-2; Galatians 5:16-25; Matthew 28:18-20)
